Has anyone tried this on the NC10? Any view on how well it runs?
What's the best way to go now, use this or upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04?

No-one else using UNR? I've now got 9.04 on a USB stick and am trying it out running from that without installing it yet. I love the interface, but am having several issues:
1. It won't remember my wireless internet connection - have to re-enter the security key each time.
2. It won't remember my bluetooth mouse either - have to reconnect it each time.
3. the brightness control is very sluggish and reverts back to half brightness if you leave the machine idle for a while. Edit: might have fixed this by switching off "reduce brightness" on battery power.
4. Can't see how to add a new item to the top panel. There is no option on right click.
Anyone have any suggestions on these? I'm not sure if the "forgetfulness" issues might go away if I install UNR properly?

I think your problems relate to you running UNR from the USB stick.
I don't think you can get it to remember the setting you want because you are running from the USB ?
I started with Hardy Heron 8.10, i got the wireless network adaptor to work but not the brightness, volume keys, I then updated to Juanty Jackalope, the brightness and volume keys started working, I'd like to know if the disc cycling problems have been solved with 9.04?
I have tried UNR on my Samsung NC10,Ii'm not sure of the interface, what advantages does UNR give on the Samasung NC10 over the desktop version Juanty Jackalope?

Thanks for the input Yorkie; there don't seem to be many of us around on this forum!
Yes, I think you are right about running from a USB stick. I ended up installing UNR from Terminal within normal Ubuntu and it was a disaster. All the graphics went haywire and the system became unusable. Uninstalling didn't work and I ended up reinstalling Ubuntu from scratch and am now running 9.04 without UNR. Did you have more success? Not sure what you mean by the disc cycling problems - ?
The only advantage I could see with UNR was the redesigned front end, which looked quite nice and made better use of the small screen. Pity I just couldn't get it to work! I came to the conclusion that UNR is completely incompatible with the NC10 for some reason, but I'd love someone to tell me otherwise and explain where I went wrong.

Your right with the extra screen space with UNR but that's all i can find as an advantage to Jaunty 9.04.
UNR runs OK from my USB but i can't decide if i want it as my operating system?
As for the hard disk cycling problems it's something I've read about in these and other forums, i wondered if it had been sorted out for the UNR?

Yes I found UNR ran OK from the USB stick (without installing) but certainly didn't when installed fully. My advice would be to avoid this at all costs, unless you can find someone who has had success with it.
I know nothing about the disc cycling problems so can't comment on that I'm afraid.

But what are the advantages JBack_Admin?
Does it solve the disk spin up/down problems?
